Description

A celebratory event for the completion of the Acoustic Fibre Optic Monitoring System for the Lake Huron Water System's water transmission pipeline; a 1200mm diameter reinforced concrete pressure pipe supplying more than 500,000 people in southwestern Ontario. The Acoustic Fibre Optic Monitoring System is one of eight undertakings under the Huron-Elgin-London Project Clean Water (HELP Clean Water) initiative which garnered $50 million in senior government funding from each of Canada and Ontario starting in 2009.

The Lake Huron and Elgin Area Water Supply Systems treat and supply drinking water to 15 area municipalities across 5,000 square kilometers of southwestern Ontario within the counties of Elgin, Middlesex, Huron and Lambton, including the City of London.
